Gonzaga University offers about 70 undergraduate programs at Gonzaga University. Gonzaga University will not require an SAT or ACT score for those applying for college admission. The admission details for the undergraduate programs in the university are provided in this post.

Gonzaga Acceptance Rate and Admission Requirement

There are two important notes to this policy; homeschooled students with less than 30 semester or 45 quarter college credits (at the time of applying) must submit an SAT or ACT and international students are required to submit a test score to demonstrate English proficiency through TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, iTEP, SAT, or ACT.

The acceptance rate at Gonzaga University is 70%. For every 100 applicants, 70 are admitted. To meet Gonzaga University’s GPA requirement of 3.78, you should aim to excel in your high school class, ideally maintaining a combination of A’s and B’s, with a stronger emphasis on achieving A grades.

If your GPA falls slightly below this threshold, taking more challenging courses such as Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) classes can serve as a means to demonstrate your capability to handle more rigorous academic coursework compared to the typical high school student. This can compensate for a lower GPA and strengthen your overall academic profile.

Gonzaga Admission Requirement

As an applicant for admission, you are expected to graduate from an accredited high school with a college preparatory curriculum while showing evidence of ability to complete the University’s requirements for graduation. The average SAT score composite at Gonzaga University is a 1262 on the 1600 SAT scale.

The average ACT score at Gonzaga University is 28. This score makes Gonzaga University Moderately Competitive for ACT scores.

The following pattern of coursework is recommended for admission to Gonzaga:

English 4 years
Mathematics 3-4 years (including algebra I, geometry, algebra II / trigonometry)
History / Social Studies    3 years
Foreign Language 2-3 years of a single language, including American Sign Language
Science  3-4 years (natural or physical laboratory science)

In the context of evaluating admissions eligibility and awarding merit scholarships, the level of academic challenge in a student’s coursework is a critical factor. We strongly recommend that students aim to push their intellectual boundaries by enrolling in courses like Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and honors classes, provided they are available at their high school. Furthermore, it is advisable for students to maintain a course load of 4 to 5 academic subjects during their senior year.

At Gonzaga University’s Office of Admission, we adopt a comprehensive approach to reviewing each application. While we do not have strict GPA or standardized test score requirements and have implemented a “test-optional” policy, we do offer some general guidelines for consideration. Additionally, we extend an invitation for an admission interview to all prospective students, although we strongly recommend scheduling one if a student falls into any of the following categories:

  • An unweighted GPA at or below 3.2
  • An academic or disciplinary history that requires more description than the application allows
  • An SAT combined score for Evidence Based Reading and Writing and Math at or below 1150
  • An ACT composite score at or below 23

Interviews may be done in person as part of a campus visit, virtually, or possibly where you live. Please contact your Admission Counselor to discern the best option.

  • Curriculum and school
  • Grade point average and grade trends
  • College essay and supplemental question response
  • Activities and honors
  • Character
  • SAT or ACT scores (if submitted; Gonzaga University is “test optional”.)

When evaluating undergraduate applications for admission, Gonzaga University takes into account the aforementioned criteria. The university inquires about an applicant’s history of school disciplinary incidents or any criminal records. It’s important to note that admission won’t be automatically or unfairly denied solely based on a criminal record or disciplinary history. Instead, the university may seek further details to better understand the circumstances, including the nature and timing of any violations, before making an admission decision.

2023-24 Gonzaga Undergraduate tuition fees

Item On Campus Cost  Off Campus Cost
Tuition $52,540  $52,540
Required Fees $960 $960

To begin assessing your financial obligations, the first step involves calculating the total expenses you’ll incur for a single academic year. Beyond the obvious expenditures like tuition fees, and accommodations (room and board), it’s essential to factor in estimated costs for books, personal expenses, and travel.

The Financial Aid Office at Gonzaga University regularly reviews the average expenses associated with these items, and based on this data, they establish a “budget” for students. This budget may vary depending on whether a student resides on campus, off-campus, or with their family at home. Furthermore, Gonzaga provides financial aid opportunities that can help support your educational financing needs.
